Font - ATTENTION PLEASE! ATTENTION ASSOCIATES: If you are a part timer, please open up your availability for the needs of the business. Our hours are from 6:00 AM-10:00 PM. If you are unable to work until 10:00 PM we will be forced to hire associates with the availability which will in turn decrease your hours. -Thank You-

Font - Is it just me, or does this feel like a threat? Everyone at my store seems to think so.

Font - HDMan_ATL • 2d SSC 2 Awards The sign is true, but there are MUCH better ways to communicate the same message. Part timers: want more hours? We have them! See a manager about opening up your availability so we can give more hours to our experienced part- timers. We are entering our busy season and we want to make sure you have first dibs instead of hiring new associates to fill coverage gaps. Just off the top of my head. Could probably be refined further. ... Reply 839

Mainly you have to step back and look at what you wrote and think: "ok, how many ways could this be perceived." You almost have to critique your own writing as a 3rd person. 430 30

Font - Alternative_Baker_84 OP. 2d That is the general consensus of the people I have spoken to. The way it is currently worded almost makes it sound like" if you don't open your availability, we will be taking your hours" in a store where part-timers are already given so little hours. If they worded it similar to as you wrote, or in a similar fashion, it wouldn't cause as much contempt for the people who wrote it. 442

Font - HDMan_ATL • 2d SSC How it's posted makes it sound like a threat. What I wrote makes it sound like an opportunity. Same facts, different message. G 437 +

Font - SnooMacaroons7712. 2d I work for a 911 dispatch center that is grievously understaffed. We have a few part time employees that help fill in some of the gaps. We have some mandatory classes coming up for a new system that we are implementing. The part timers are having trouble getting off of their full time jobs to take said classes, and our director has taken the stance of "well, if they want to keep working here then they will find a way to make it to the classes." Never mind that fact t

Font - Dusty General9399 - 2d ATTENSHUN MANAGEMENT Recognize that employees, even part-timers, have lives outside of work and do not have an open availability if 16 hours per day, seven days per week. Get bent. -Thank You- ... Reply 104 104

Font - Ghostly1111 • 2d Open up your availability?????. that's a joke at our store. we have absolutely no say on availability. They ignore any and all requests. Secondly. THEY can't hire. Nobody stays more than 3 weeks. It's an abusive work environment. Empty threat, poorly worded. Guaranteed to generate anger. Reply 16
